We all know you are what you eat, but have you ever thought about how the products used to clean your kitchen may affect your health?
The team at Grit Elite has. Many of out team members cook for themselves and their families. That's why we research and produce many of the products we use to clean YOUR home. If we don't want it near our food, we don't want near yours either!

Cleaning with Kids | Oregon City

Children are a blessing, a messy, messy blessing.
New parents can easily become overwhelmed with feeding, changing and doing everything else for a new addition to the family. Even a not-so-new addition can create challenges when it comes to time management and keeping a clean home.
Look familiar?
Crayons on walls, stains on carpet... all the joys of parenthood.
There's no reason to go it alone!
The folks at Grit know, kids are challenging. Keeping a clean house is challenging. Doing both on your own can be... well, a little much.
That's why we offer affordable rates, friendly staff and weekly, bi-weekly or monthly cleaning schedules to keep your home and your sanity in great shape!
Give Grit Elite Cleaning a call. Wouldn't you rather be spending time WITH your kids, rather than cleaning up AFTER them?

Give us a call, we'll give you a hand.

Sunshine as a Disinfectant? Tigard

Can Sunlight Kill Germs?

Did you know that the sun's rays can kill germs? It's true... mostly.
According to a paper published by John Weinziri, sunlight can effectively kill of or inhibit the bacteria that cause tuberculosis.
Now, does that mean you should just leave your dirty laundry in the sun for a while? No.
Your neighbors probably wouldn't appreciate it.
Also, sunlight has to hit all areas of the fabric. Bacteria can still hid in the weave of the cloth or the seams. To top it off, it seems TB is fairly delicate as far as bacteria goes.
So, guess you've still got to do laundry this week...
If only there was someone you could call to do it for you.

Fight Big Oil...Stains | Portland Oregon

Oil Stains Don't Have to Ruin Your Clothes | Portland

We've all been there. Maybe it's salad oil, maybe it's motor oil... if you're this Grit Elite Staffer, it's pesto. We've all gotten some type of oil onto our clothing and we've (probably) all had to resign ourselves to a ruined garment because of it.
It doesn't have to be that way.
If you just dripped, wiped or spattered a grease or oil-based drop on your clothes, you need to act quickly, but you don't need to consign your outfit to your "laundry day" wardrobe just yet.

  • As soon as you notice the stain, blot! Remove as much of the substance as possible.
  • Next, cover it with something absorbent. (Salt is a great choice and very handy if you're at the dinner table.) Other substances that may help are cornstarch, baking soda or talcum powder.
  • Wait... two minutes minimum to give the absorbent substance a chance to soak up as much of the stain as possible.
  • Remove the absorbent powder- make sure not to let the used material get on other parts of your clothes.
  • Now, it's time to scrub. Put dish soap or a little bit of laundry soap onto the stain, then gently scrub (an old clean toothbrush works great for this.) Be sure to get both sides of the stained fabric.
  • Wash the article of clothing on it's own, following the instructions on the tag.
  • Dry- hang it to dry. If the stain persisted, the heat from the drying will cause it to set and all your effort was for nothing.
  • If at first you don't succeed, try again!
While this won't save every piece of clothing, it will dramatically improve your chances of saving your clothes.

Five Minute Friday | Gresham

What Can You Clean in 5 Minutes?

Here at GEF we love clean. We clean places, things, ourselves, our kids, our pets... you get the idea. We also like to read about how other people clean.
This week we thought we'd share something we picked up from blogger, Dana White and her blog, A Slob Comes Clean.
It's Friday, do you have five minutes?
If so, try spending it organizing some ignored space in your home.
I know we ALL have those blind spots, the junk drawer, your pantry, maybe the space under your bathroom sink.
This Friday, set the easy goal of cleaning for just five minutes. See what you can do with your spare time!
